Candlestick Point State Recreation Area

Offering panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay, Candlestick Point State Recreation Area is the first park developed to bring state park values into the urban setting and offers various recreational opportunities for visitors. Rabbits, hawks, brown pelicans, and other native wildlife call this place home. During World War II, the United States Navy filled the tidelands to create the nearby Naval Shipyard. Today, the park sits on part of this former landfill and demonstrates how major land changes affect ecologically sensitive areas.

Help keep the park clean and support ongoing habitat restoration! Participants can choose to pick up micro-trash and debris from the park or remove an invasive species. We will provide volunteers with protective gloves to wear and recommend wearing long sleeved shirts while pulling and bagging the weeds. Ages 10 and older are welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian).

Join Us in Beautifying Candlestick Park! This project seeks to revitalize the entry to Candlestick Park in partnership with our community collaborators, aiming to create a visually inviting entrance to Candlestick State Park. Volunteer Activities will include - PAINTING: Add color to our walkways. CLEANING: Keep the new walkway pristine. PLANTING: If gardening is your thing, we need you!
