Rio De Los Angeles State Park is a unique site along the Los Angeles River that provides essential habitat to wildlife and recreational opportunities to the surrounding communities with nature trails, soccer fields, and a playground on site. Throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s, the property was a rail yard and an industrial site used primarily as a freight-switching facility, storage space, and maintenance and repair facility for rail cars and locomotive engines.

Help with our ongoing habitat restoration efforts! We will be removing invasive weeds to ensure they don’t impact the native plants recently planted at the park. This project helps create a healthy habitat in the park for bird species migrating along the Los Angeles River. Ages 8 and over welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian).

Join us for a special BioBlitz event in partnership with the Xerces Society as part of the International Monarch Monitoring Blitz—a nationwide effort to support monarch butterfly conservation. Volunteers will be taught how to submit community science data and will help remove invasive species to improve habitat in the park. Ages 8 and over welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian).
