Volunteers will use hand tools to remove invasive broom species at confluence of the North and Middle Forks of the American River. Removal of broom allows more native species to flourish which improves the overall biodiversity of the area and helps the park become more resilient to the effects of climate change. We will also help with graffiti removal/cover-up and litter pick up as needed. Auburn Transit has offered in-kind services to pick up groups at the confluence and drop them off at satellite locations on nearby trails that require invasive species removal or litter removal. Each group assigned to a satellite work location will be led by park staff or another approved lead. These groups will make their way back to the confluence on foot as they work (approximately 2 miles downhill). Drop-off locations will be assigned to volunteer crews the morning of the event. All ages welcome (minors must be accompanied by an adult and bring a waiver signed by their guardian).
